Even After Turning Into a Trap Cat Girl I’ll Have to Work Hard to Survive in the End of the World.

Chapter 2 – Infection Starts — (New Humans: 0 Zombies: 1 Mutated: 0)

The first thing Lin Feng thought of was something like rabies, but why would the girl after spasming for a bit suddenly go kiss that male?
He stared at the passionate kiss happening below with curiosity.
They slowly separated.
Yet the only thing he saw was that the male no longer had lips, teeth bared to the world with nothing covering them in a terrifying manner.

“My god, that passionate!?”

“Lin Feng! Do you think that and old man like me is easy to pick on? Since you seem so willing to randomly stand up during my class, are you now offering to answer the questions?” Old Man Liu huffed in rage, eyes fixated on Lin Feng who had stood up twice now, and threw the chalk in his hand at Lin Feng.

“AHH!!”

There was a scream from the corridor. Old Man Liu’s chalk ended up sailing directly into Yan Ao Xue who had been sitting in the front row. She could only disbelievingly rub at her forehead.

“Cough cough, sorry about that Miss Yan my hand slipped.”

Before he could finish there a student covered in blood suddenly rushed into the room, hurriedly locking the door behind him. While Old Man Liu was still dazed by this, the student grabbed anything in sight and blocked the door.

“Excuse me… you…” Old Man Liu reached out with a shaking finger to point at the blood soaked student.

“Old Man Liu? Ah, I mean Mr. Liu, there’s trouble! Zombies!” The student nervously stated what he needed to say, staring at the still ignorant students in front of him.

“Excuse me, please don’t make jokes, it’s not very respectful to teachers.” Liu Lin stood up and scolded the student.

Liu Lin was the class representative, though not exactly beautiful she could still be considered pretty. Her grades were a cut above, around the same level as Yan Ao Xue. Those two were usually ranked highly in the school exams. 1

The important thing was that she liked to help other students, and was the sweetheart of the class.

“Oh for… Fucking hell, I’m being serious. You think I’m mentally ill? Joking about something like this.”

The student began cursing up a storm, grinding his teeth seeing that everyone was still relaxed and not taking him seriously.
But after looking at the bite on his hand he suddenly began laughing bitterly.

“Well I guess you’ll find out after a bit, Hahahahahaha-” He collapsed on the ground with a slam, frothing at the mouth.

Having seen what was happening below, Lin Feng scowled and walked in front of the student whose eyes were slowly changing colour.

“Miss Yan, um please come over here for a bit.” Biting his teeth, Lin Feng knew that with the student representative and teacher here no matter what he said would be brushed off. But this way at least Yan Ao Xue who sat in the front would be able to avoid injury.

Yan Ao Xue gave a weird look at Lin Feng, yet still followed Lin Feng to the back of the class.

“Did you need something?”

“Just you by my side.”

Hearing Lin Feng utter something so casually, Yan Ao Xue wrinkled her pretty eyebrows. However seeing the student at the front still frothing at the mouth, she didn’t say anything and stayed by Lin Feng’s side.

The teacher and Liu Lin were directing other students to move aside the metal locker that the male student had blocked the door with.
Suddenly the unmoving student slowly stood up.

“Ah good you’re ok. You shouldn’t cause trouble like this in the future ok?”
Liu Lin charitably walked to him to help him stand up.

“Wait.”

Lin Feng seeing the class representative walk up wanted to stop her, but was too late.
The male student with a screech pounced on the class representative Liu Lin, taking a big bite out of her tender arm.
Fresh blood was spraying in the classroom, painting the walls and books red.

“AHHH!” the class representative’s scream pierced the classroom. Yan Ao Xue nervously grabbed onto Lin Feng’s arm and began to shake as she leaned into him.

Liu Meng Qi seeing Yan Ao Xue snuggle into Liu Feng had a sudden urge to flip them off. 2
A few strong bodied male classmates tied up the turned student with the curtains.
That male was still screaming wildly, thrashing about.

“What even is happening?” seeing the class representative makeshift bandaged her arm with clothes, Song Zhe asked as he looked at his unreliable friend Lin Feng. 3

The others in the class also turned to look at Lin Feng, because if it wasn’t for Lin Feng asking Yan Ao Xue to move, the one who would have been bitten was most likely the closest to that student, Yan Ao Xue. And even as the class representative was approaching that male, it was Lin Feng who called out for her to stop.

Everyone in the class realizing this moved away from Lin Feng.

Only his unreliable friend Song Zhe, Liu Meng Qi and the frightened Yan Ao Xue remained by his side.

“Er… Student Lin Feng, do you perhaps know something?” Old Man Liu shakily walked closer, his grey white shirt still stained with a few drops of the class rep’s blood. It was the first time in all his years teaching that he had seen something like this, perhaps in his age he was unable to squash the anxiousness in his heart.

“It must’ve been something an asshole like you did.” Zhu Han Fang walked towards Lin Feng and pointed his finger at Lin Feng’s nose. The usually arrogant Zhu Han Feng had faint traces of sweat on his forehead.

“Yeah, must’ve been” The lackey Deng Liang hurriedly agreed.

“Zhu Han Feng can you not smear my name, everyone listen to me. I just saw what was happening downstairs through the window, oh right it would probably be best to also tie up the class rep with the curtains. She… she’s probably going to change too.”

Seeing Zhu Han Feng and his lackey in right in front of him, Lin Feng could only speak as such. Since even he could not comprehend what he was seeing he relied on his base love of zombie movies to decide what to do next.

Zhu Han Feng stared at Lin Feng, though not satisfied but still obediently walked towards the class rep, pushing away the onlookers and tied Liu Lin’s legs and arms with clothes into a tight knot.

“Oi Deng Liang, go look outside the windows”

“Ah, Big Bro Zhu… I” Deng Liang having seen what just occured seemed somewhat scared.

“Go! Or are you saying you don’t want the sports car anymore?” Zhu Han Fang kicked Deng Liang.

The big headed Deng Liang hesitated for a second before carefully squatting at the window and peeking out.

“Oh shit Big Bro it really is…”

Crash

A ripping noise interrupted Deng Liang. The people in the class could only scream as they saw Deng Liang who had just been peeking outside ripped in half, with a giant black foot reaching in and dragging the rest of his corpse out.

“Oh fuck! I knew it was you Lin Feng! Say it, you set this up didn’t you!”

Not able to comprehend Deng Liang being ripped in two, Zhu Han Fang continued pointing at Lin Feng’s nose and screaming out incomprehensible nonsense in fear.

Lin Feng was also rather shocked, that giant foot just then was nothing like a zombie. Having seen many zombie flicks, what he had seen earlier must have been something like the movies. But what had cut Deng Liang in two was something far beyond his expectations.

“I don’t know! I don’t know, Zhu Han Fang! Are you an idiot? Do you think I’d be able to do that?”

Lin Feng’s mind raced to think up something.

“Yan Ao Xue can you come with me outside?” Seeing her scared and huddled into his embrace, Lin Feng turned his head to ask.

“You’re going out?” Old Man Liu suddenly popped up in front of Lin Feng.

“Yes, I’m sure everyone has seen zombie flicks. When it first starts is always the messiest, so we need to find somewhere safe. Otherwise when we have to face zombies we’d be helpless.” The classroom was situated at the top floor of the building, and during the outbreak it was where zombies would gather the least.

There was no food or water in the classroom so going outside was just a matter of time. Seeing the tied up and already changing class rep, Lin Feng decided to take a gamble.

“Well then where are you going to go?” Old Man Liu had also seen the changing class rep, and knew that what Lin Feng said was correct.

Everyone else had finally seen the changing class rep, and regained some trust in what Lin Feng had said. They all looked to him, excluding the teeth grinding Zhu Han Fang of course.

Lin Feng found himself unable to reply, having difficulty coming up with a place to go. Somewhere that would be safe and provide sustenance as they waited for rescue. But he knew at least where they were right now was not somewhere to stay for long, that giant foot was something he had never seen before in a movie, and so he wasn’t sure if he would run into more unknowns as he went outside. But he had to try regardless.

They had to leave eventually, otherwise the corpses would swamp and swarm everywhere, leaving them unable to resist. They must act now while there aren’t that many monsters yet.

“I don’t know, maybe somewhere towards the cafeteria?” Grasping Yan Ao Xue who was still in his embrace, he spoke slowly.

If this was a normal day the current situation was something he wouldn’t even be able to dream about, yet Lin Feng could only feel terror in his heart.

It was only because Lin Feng rather liked horror films that he had slightly more courage than others, but who knew that such a thing would become reality?

“You won’t be able to get into the cafeteria.” Looking at Yan Ao Xue embracing Lin Feng with a complex expression, Liu Meng Qi cut in.

Liu Meng Qi untied her twintails, taking the hairbands to tie her hair into a ponytail.

“If you want to go to the cafeteria you’ll have to go through the library and male/female dorms. If all of us were to move together we’d be such a big target, lots of us will probably be hurt and killed. I know a better place.”

“You mean the rooftop?” Old Man Liu spoke up, seeming to understand what Liu Meng Qi was going to say.

“Yep. Mr. Liu you have the keys right?”

“Yes, every teacher in the school has a pair. The rooftops were going to be made into a teacher rest lounge, so most of the teachers should have a pair of keys. Also the staircase to it is only half finished, right now you can only get there by climbing a ladder.” Old Man Liu recalled as he stroked his beard.

“Great, but is there food and water there?” Lin Feng was slightly excited.

This classroom was on the 5th floor, and the to be built teacher lounge was on the 7th floor. That is to say, the people in his group right now only needed to climb one more floor to be able to reach the ladder.

According to what Old Man Liu said, you could only get there by ladder. After everyone here had climbed up as long as the ladder was removed it would become a natural bastion against zombies.

“Yes there is, it was mostly prepared for us teachers in the future. Biscuits, candy and the like. And there should even be quite a few barrels of mineral water, hmm? Wait how did Ms. Liu Meng Qi know so much about this.”

Old Man Liu seemed to have suddenly thought of something, looking towards the lightly blushing Liu Meng Qi.

“The English Teacher brought me up there once, and… gave me some food, so I saw it by chance. I was responsible for taking care of the plants in the teacher’s lounge.”

“Hey Hey hey, are you done deciding yet? Quit jabbering. If you’ve decided then let’s get going already. These two bastards are giving me a headache.” Zhu Han Fang said as he kicked the screeching zombified class rep.

“Oi! You” A male student was rather annoyed having seeing what Zhu Han Fang was doing. Though the class rep was strict she was still very helpful and caring towards the other students. She had only been turned due to her kind act, and yet Zhu Han Fang was currently kicking her head.

“Hmm? Got a problem?” Zhu Han Fang took out the brass knuckles he usually carried around, staring down at the agitated students.

“Stop fighting, everyone.” Yan Ao Xue, slightly embarrassed at being glued to Lin Feng’s side for so long, came out and soothed the crowd.

The two who were rearing to go had their flames extinguished after hearing her speak.

“Thank you Lin Feng. Let’s plan how to get up to the roof now.”

Seeing the fully recovered and calm Yan Ao Xue, Lin Feng nodded slightly regretfully.

“Oh? Reluctant?” Liu Meng Qi could see Lin Feng’s pity and came over to poke fun at him.

“Tch” sparing a quick glance at the smug Liu Meng Qi, Lin Feng followed the other students to the pieced together tables and began to work on a plan with everyone.

Well I’ve realized that when reading I skim over a lot of the details. When translating I actually have to crunch out meanings, which leads to a lot of extra details being noticed. This one is a lot more difficult to translate, but it’s fun. Also things went bad pretty quick.

TN1: Chinese and most Asian schools have exam rankings displayed publicly. These are usually the earliest way to get results.

TN2: 鄙视 literally middle finger meme

TN3: Original is 损友 which is along the lines of harmful to self friend, but this is said in a sarcastic manner. I don’t know how to convey that so you get a TL note.
