Even After Turning Into a Trap Cat Girl I’ll Have to Work Hard to Survive in the End of the World.

Chapter 3 – Splitting Up

Liu Meng Qi saw Lin Feng walk off to join Yan Ao Xue in discussing a solution. Feeling snubbed, she walked forwards and placed herself between the two.

“I think I have a solution” Seeing Liu Meng Qi with a small smile suddenly butt in, Lin Feng felt slightly annoyed but didn’t say anything about it. Right now personal feelings would have to be put aside, even though he didn’t know what Liu Meng Qi was being so petty for he felt that it was better to focus on how to move to the rooftop first.

A person who was pretty good at drawing was called to the front to draw up a blueprint of the school. The staircase was about two classrooms down from the current location, usually it would only take around a few minutes to reach there, but now they must consider that an odd 30 people wouldn’t be able to go there together at once. If they did, there would definitely be casualties. It was best to split up, mixed genders and heading towards the staircase. The first group would have to be the group most familiar with the route.

A classmate named Liu Tao was a giant of a man, with matching courage too. Under his help everyone was able to experiment slightly with the two captured zombies.

These types of zombies seemed to be pretty sensitive to sound, while their eyesight seemed rather lacking. As long as you covered their heads with a cloth sack, even if you were standing right next to them as long as you didn’t make a sound they wouldn’t attack you. It seemed they lost their sense of smell entirely.

Just as the crowd had finished deciding the plan, a female scream rang out from behind Lin Feng.

Following the scream, Lin Feng turned his head around and saw a giant spider crawling past the window with a clacking noise.
The spider reached for the window and pulled it open — and at that moment Old Man Liu actually rushed straight at it.
With a herculean might he slammed the window shut, forcefully breathing and sweat pouring out from beneath his pale white hair.

Tap

The spider used its hairy legs to knock against the glass, finding it not giving way. It sat there with eight black beady eyes staring at the crowd within.

It was like that the crowd finally realized how Deng Liang had died, and it seemed that this kind of spider wasn’t the only one. The one that grabbed him definitely had much larger legs than the one sitting outside.

“It seems like the infection isn’t only for humans.” Lin Feng walked slowly to the window to take a look outside.

And instantly he felt his hair stand on end. A giant spider was crawling on the walls outside, though due to its size it wasn’t able to enter the classroom. Right now it was only able to take out those who were curious and peeking outside with their entire body.

Besides it was a crowd of about school desk sized spiders, who were currently looking around classrooms for humans. The courtyard was in disarray, lots of debris lying around and a few zombies chomping down on students they had managed to pounce on.

Pulling back to the corner of the window he saw the [Made in China] sign and breathed a sigh of relief. The classroom would be safe.

He pulled the curtains closed.

“Let’s hurry and get out of here. There’s a giant spider sitting outside. Ah right, did they install windows in the teacher’s lounge?”

“Yes, they installed it just a few days ago.” Old Man Liu thought for a bit before nodding.

And so the plan was executed.

The first group would be three males and a female, that female being Liu Meng Qi as she was the one most familiar with the situation. The males would include Liu Tao.

The main purpose of the first group was to clear a path, seeing as Old Man Liu was getting on in age he wasn’t exactly the best to lead such a group. And so it would fall upon the only other one familiar, Liu Meng Qi.

Lin Feng wanted to go together with them, but was denied by the crowd. Lin Feng could only calmly ask to go in the last group.

“Don’t worry, nothing will happen. I’ll be waiting for you upstairs ok, Feng?” With a complex expression, Liu Meng Qi put on a few rather thick articles of clothing, hoping that in the worst case it would at least offer some resistance to a bite.

“Yeah relax, I’ll make sure to protect your sister.” Liu Tao had walked over to the two who were exchanging goodbyes, and flexed his muscles.

“Yeah I’ll leave her to you. Please take care of her.” Lin Feng seeing the formidable looking Liu Tao felt slightly less worried.

The classroom was filled with an heavy atmosphere, the crowd of students were gravely silent. The three males pulled off the scrubbing end of a mop, turning them into makeshift wooden sticks.

Seeing them fully prepared, Lin Feng grasped tightly at his hands.

“Liu Meng Qi!”

“Hmm?” Liu Meng Qi turned expectantly back towards Lin Feng.

“If you make it there alive wait for me, and when you arrive send a WeChat.”

Liu Meng Qi turned back with a slight disappointment and grasped the wooden stick in her hands tighter.

“I know.”

The door was opened, and instantly a zombie outside seeing the humans charged vigorously at them with its only remaining arm raised.

SLAP

Liu Tao smacked the zombie aside with a quick move.

“Let’s go!”

With Liu Tao’s roar, the door was firmly shut behind them.

“They’ll make it there.” Song Zhe assured after seeing the spiritless Lin Feng.

“Yeah.” Lin swallowed with difficulty before sighing.

Right now all he could do was pray that Liu Meng Qi would arrive there safely, the three males were the strongest in the class. If even they couldn’t make it there, then there was little chance for the others.

Full of worries, Lin Feng’s felt his heart race and surroundings grow warm.

“Oi, what’s wrong with you.”

Suddenly Lin Feng regained his bearings. What happened just then!? Lin Feng felt like he had just woken up from death, everything around him was in slow motion.

“Uh, I’m fine. Just worried about Liu Meng Qi.”

Seeing Song Zhe tap his arm a few times, Lin Feng shook his head. What was wrong with him?

“Mr. Liu, can you place me in the second group? I want to go up there earlier.” Lin Feng asked after approaching Old Man Liu. Right now Lin Feng was feeling slightly regretful that he left Liu Meng Qi to go up there by herself. Even though just then his wish to join the first group was rejected by the entire class.

“Worried about your sister?”

“Yeah.”

“Alright, I’ll see what I can do.” Old Man Liu seeing Lin Feng’s rather abnormal candor, agreed with his request thinking that it would help him worry less about his sister.

Right now even though everyone had their own thoughts, they would still defer to Old Man Liu. After all, he was still the teacher to all the students. It was also Old Man Liu who fearlessly rushed up to the window to stop the spider from entering.

Even though Old Man Liu was getting on in years, everyone seeing his actions still held a level of respect and would thus listen to his plans.

“I’m going with you.” Zhu Han Fang who had been fiddling with his brass knuckles suddenly let out such a statement.

“You’re in the fifth group.” Old Man Liu had heard him and replied.

“I don’t care, I’m not an idiot. I’m going in the second group.”

“You can’t ignore the rules!” A chubby female exclaimed. She was a part of the second group, if Old Man Liu were to switch up the places then a rather slow moving person like her would probably be the first to be switched out.

“Rules? Whose rules? Yours? Don’t make me fucking hit you, I’m not in the fucking mood. How about I trade you a sportscar later? You’re in the second group right? Just give me your spot and we’ll have a deal.” Zhu Han Fang’s lips curled into a smirk, staring at the frightened female and flashing his brass knuckles around.

“Mr. Zhu Han Fang, stop playing around. I’ll let you go with the second group. It’s just an extra person. In exchange you’ll have to take on an extra female student.” Old Man Liu took a breath. If it was before, he could have taken some points off or even given a time out.

This Zhu Han Fang didn’t care about rules before either and acted as he pleased, right now it was probably best to just satisfy him temporarily.

“Then I’ll go into the second group too.” Yan Ao Xue stated as she walked towards Old Man Liu.

Female students switching around didn’t matter as much, seeing as they usually didn’t have much fighting power and needed a male student for full protection. Some females after seeing what happened to the class rep had despaired about leaving the classroom, feeling that staying put would be better.

“Ok” Old Man Liu nodded. Yao Ao Xue was the heiress of the Yan Corporation after all. If the pandemic didn’t devolve into absolute collapse, Yan Ao Xue’s survival could probably help the students escape. He had heard that the Yan Corporation had many helicopters under their command.

The people in the second group were originally going to end up in the rear but due to the switching they’ve become the group with the most benefits.

Though Zhu Han Fang wasn’t very above board but due to his long time fighting, his muscles were very defined. It was clear he had quite a bit of fighting power. Lin Feng himself wasn’t too bad either, with a 1.8m tall frame. Though he didn’t wasn’t a musclehead he was still a normal male. The important thing was he had a calm head on his shoulders.

Lin Feng wasn’t listening to the discussion of the class but instead staring outside at that giant spider. Lin Feng could clearly see another classroom’s occupants feeling that they were safe, only to have the giant spider suddenly break through the windows and the smaller spiders swarming in.

“Everyone stay quiet.” Lin Feng told everyone who had been casually talking, and then motioned towards Old Man Liu.

Old Man Liu came next to him and also looked out the window at where Lin Feng was pointing.

“SH-, everyone the plan has changed. Right now group two is a big group, groups 3 and 4 are to merge. Groups 5 and 6 the same. Wait for my signal before departing.” Old Man Liu closed the curtains and motioned for everyone to stay silent.

“Sir what happened?” Yan Ao Xue asked in a lowered voice.

“It’s that spider, we need to move faster.”

Ding

A noise interrupted Old Man Liu, and attracted everyone’s attention.

Lin Feng was holding his phone, and let out a sigh of relief.

“They arrived.”

Everyone also let out a sigh of relief. After all the bad news they’ve had suddenly a ray luck appeared. Even those who had been in despair felt a little strand of hope.

Lin Feng silently let out a sigh of relief as well, secretly happy his luck was good. The 5th and 6th floors were specialized machinery rooms, only those specific degree students were allowed to be in those two floors.

The only thing was apart from the class eaten by the spiders and the class that the male zombie had come from, if there were any more classes in those two floors.

Since they had all merged into a bigger group, Lin Feng looked at the names list. His group had 10 people while others had 8. Apart from the zombified class rep it was perfectly 30 people.

Yan Ao Xue, Han Zhu Fang and his best friend Song Zhe were in his group, and the other 6 members included the chubby female and two lanky females. The other 3 were guys who didn’t seem to say much. Old Man Liu was supposed to go with the last group but under Yan Ao Xue and Lin Feng’s directing he would be travelling with the second group.

“Is everyone ready?” A member of the third group asked towards the leader Lin Feng as he grabbed the door.

“Open it.” Lin Feng nodded as he grasped his table leg firmly.

Hope everyone is able to keep up with names. There’s a lot of characters in this story Let me know if you spot something that doesn’t seem right, even I’m starting to lose track of who is speaking at times.

Edit: Fixed a bit of grammar.

    1. I’m aiming to push for 10 chapters before returning to my other project for a volume. This way I feel is better for readers as they get a large chunk to slowly digest as they wait for the next update rather than being stuck with cliffhangers every two weeks c:
