Even After Turning Into a Trap Cat Girl I’ll Have to Work Hard to Survive in the End of the World

Chapter 4 – Dismemberment First Aid

Crunch Crunch.

The finely shattered glass let out such a sound after being stepped on.

11 people slowly walked through the corridor, the sunlight shining as normal. The only thing that was different was that there were many bodies and shattered glass pieces as well as a few desiccated pieces of a spider, green insect blood staining the walls.

The bodies on the floor didn’t belong to Lin Feng’s class, and were piled up on top of another.

“This way” Suppressing his voice, Lin Feng crouched below the windowsill and slowly moved towards the staircase.

Right at the corner to the staircase, Lin Feng heard something and motioned for the group to stop.

“Class 3’s homeroom teacher?”

At the bottom of the stairs, a zombie was currently facing towards a wall and slamming its head against it repeatedly. It’s poor glasses had been indented into the head, the balding patch that was teased so often was bloodied and filled with bites. Whether the zombie still needed the glasses to see fully was something to be discovered.

“Voices low, don’t make sound.” Lin Feng passed that back to Song Zhe, who conveyed it down the line. Lin Feng carefully inched forwards to the staircase and walked upwards.

The school staircase was a multilevel staircase and had a bit of a blind spot, if you walked up just a little bit then those below would be unable to see what was above.

Seeing Lin Feng walk up, Song Zhe also carefully took a look at the staircase, avoiding whatever loose pieces of glass he could as he moved forwards.

The 11 each made sure not to startle the homeroom teacher as they walked to the stairs, Old Man Liu in particular as he wobbled past.

But just as the chubby student was about to walk past a spider suddenly climbed in from the window. Her hair being tugged by the spider legs as it stepped down caused the chubby student to let out a piercing scream, like a landmine going off.

The last male of the group behind her cursed at her and covered her mouth but it was too late.

Class 3’s homeroom teacher forcefully turned towards the source of the noise, though as if it wasn’t able to see fully it didn’t start to go crazy.

It approached the top of the stairs.

And just at the turning point in between levels, there was only one step separating the homeroom teacher and the two who were huddled against the wall and holding their breath; the male student forcefully keeping the female student’s mouth shut. Beads of sweat rolled down from their foreheads, both hoping that the homeroom teacher wouldn’t take a single step further.

Crack.

Due to his attention being focused on keeping her mouth shut, the male student didn’t realize he had stepped onto a piece of glass. The glass unable to take his weight cracked with a loud and crisp noise.

The homeroom teacher turned its head and saw the two who were against the wall, with a roar and took a bite out of the slow reacting chubby girl.

“AHH! IT HURTS! IT HUURTS! SAVE ME! PLEASE!” She screamed as she crawled towards the stairs, the glass pieces on the ground cutting into her hands and leaving bloodstains on the ground.

The male seeing the chubby girl being bitten, cursed her stupidity and ran towards the stairs leaving her behind.

But the girl grabbed on firmly to his right leg and pulled him to the ground.

“Oh fuck you dumb bitch let go of me, I don’t want to fucking die” He lashed out with his feet at the girl, and in that moment of despair class 3’s homeroom teacher pounced on him and bit the still struggling male student.

“Oh-“

“Let’s go!” Lin Feng hurriedly told everyone behind him.

Due to the scream of the chubby girl, a lot of footsteps were coming from the 6th floor. Most likely zombies having heard the commotion.

In a line everyone scrambled up the stairs towards the 7th floor.

Zombies who were in pieces were starting to gather in the staircase.

AH!

The last member of the line cried out as his arm was bitten.

“Zhang Yi Cheng! Everyone help me, because he tried to save me…” A girl’s wavering voice cried out. People turning back saw the girl grab the broken desk leg and move towards the zombie, aiming to hit its head. They also joined in with their own makeshift wooden clubs.

As the zombie’s head deformed, it slowly let go of Zhang Yi Cheng.

The girl cradled Zhang Yi Cheng.

“Are you ok?”

“Yeah, it was worth protecting you, haha.” Zhang Yi Cheng tried a small smile as he said that, except it looked worse than if he were crying.

“Then let’s get going.”

Lin Feng had a rather conflicted expression as he turned to the girl who had called for them to hurry up, having seen the bite marks on Zhang Yi Cheng’s arm.

“Yeah… let’s get to the top floor before deciding.” The surrounding zombies were not conducive to thought. Climbing up to the 6th floor, there was as reported a staircase that went up half a level before ending suddenly. At the top of the staircase was a laddder leading upwards with a warning sign next to it.

And on the other side of the ladder was Liu Meng Qi panicking as she held the ladder.

“Hurry! You’ve got zombies behind you.”

Not much time left to think, Lin Feng grabbed on and began climbing quickly.

“Hurry Song Zhe” Receiving the ladder in Liu Meng Qi’s hands, Lin Feng held it so that Song Zhe could follow. The zombies were already upon them, and the males in the group were weaving about waving their clubs and protecting the female students.

The crowd managed to shakily but safely climb, retracting the ladder before the zombies could reach it. The zombies still continued to charge at them, but without the ladder there they could only end up falling down the gap. But even after breaking both legs they would still continue furiously climbing with just their arms before falling once again into the gap.

“Phew” the last person who crossed let out a sigh of relief as he leaned against the ladder.

“Cheng De your hand!” another male student who saw Cheng De leaning against the ladder called out in a shaky tone.

“Oh shit.” Cheng De also took a look at his own right hand, right at the wrist there was indents of teeth marks and two slightly deep and freely bleeding wounds.

“What… what do I do?!” Cheng De began to tear up.

“Lin Feng you gotta save me, I don’t want to die yet, I still have a sister waiting for me at home, I don’t want to die!” Clasping his right hand and staring at the two small wounds, Cheng De kneeled in front of Lin Feng.

Lin Feng seeing Cheng De kneeling, instantly felt a sense of numbness and hurriedly tried to think back to the movies he’d seen for a treatment.

“There… there’s a way but…” Lin Feng finally thought of something he had seen in a movie to treat something like this.

“I beg you.” Cheng De had been reduced to a blubbering mess as he continued to grasp at his own arm.

Lin Feng walked to an emergency fire equipment storage box, took the half finished brick from the construction materials and smashed it open. He took out a fire axe.

“The only way is to amputate, are you sure?”

“Hurry, I don’t want to become something like that.” Cheng De saw the sharp fire axe, squared his jaw and nodded.

In preparation he took some cloth and tied a tourniquet on Cheng De’s upper arm and commanded others to take a furnace out from the storage and heat it up. Since this was the last room to finish construction, there was only the walls and no furniture.

The lucky thing was since the construction took so long, the workers when cold would use a furnace heater. Even though the school had warned them plenty of times not to the workers had still secretly used one at night. That was why there was one lying around.

“Lin Feng you want to…?” Old Man Liu came and saw Liu Feng adding heat to heater.

“After amputating you have to cauterize the wound, something I saw in a movie. I don’t know if it’ll work, but right now there’s no other options.” Lin Feng had the others help to raise the temperature as he held the axe with slightly shaking hands.

“It should, but Cheng De would probably rather die than bear that pain. And afterwards the chances of infection are still extremely high.” Old Man Liu replied after thinking for a bit.

“Just hurry, Lin Feng, I’m ready, If I wait any longer I don’t think I’ll make it.” Cheng De had his hand raised with a do or die expression.

The tied up arm was already turning deep purple due to lack of blood.

“Ok.” A piece of cloth was shoved into Cheng De’s mouth, to make sure he doesn’t bite his own tongue off or break his teeth.

“Let me do it, you spineless bitch.” Zhu Han Fang spoke up from behind.

He grabbed the axe out of Lin Feng’s hands, looking at him with eyes that indicated how unperturbed he was by all this. Zhu Han Fang was someone who lived in the underworld, chopping off arms was a common sight, this situation here was nothing in comparison.

“Thanks.”

Before Lin Feng could even finish Zhu Han Fang had already swung down and sliced Cheng De’s forearm in two. The familiarity with the motion was unnerving.

“Unable to handle even something like this, how are you even going to survive?” he quipped as he tossed the butt of the axe back at Lin Feng and walked out of the room.

Lin Feng’s head was filled with blankness, before hurriedly pulling up the already unconscious Cheng De off the floor.

Cheng De’s face was contorted was pale and cold, his mouth though filled with cloth had small pitiful wheezing sounds coming out and his eyes were slowly turning milky.

“Is the fire hot enough yet?” Lin Feng asked to Liu Meng Qi as he carried the blood dripping Cheng De towards the furnace. She was tending the flames.

“Just a little more” Liu Meng Qi said after sticking her hand near to test the temperature.

Lin Feng took a look at the already unconscious Cheng De.

“Oi, Cheng De stay awake, don’t go to sleep. Shit, there’s no other way.” He grabbed Cheng De’s stump and stuck it to the side of the furnace.

The furnace opening was parallel to the wind, the faster the wind blew the bigger the flames got, and the bigger the flames got the hotter it was.

“OOOOO”

Cheng De was jolted awake before completely fainting again.

“Tut tut tut, so scary.” Zhu Han Fang saw the completely unconscious Cheng De and shook his head, wafting his hand slightly to get rid of the smell.

“Enough Zhu Han Fang, don’t you have a heart?” Liu Meng Qi shouted as she saw Zhu Han Fang sit there with his legs crossed

“Don’t forget, it was me who helped. If it wasn’t for me, that baby faced brother of yours would be stuck there still, haha.”

“Well that’s still no reason for you to be so gleeful.”

“It’s done, his wound has stopped bleeding.” Lin Feng broke the argument up, and pulled Cheng De up into a shoulder carry.

“Put him in the rest room first, there’s still a few folding beds there for employees.” Old Man Liu said as he saw Lin Feng carry the unconscious Cheng De, coming forwards and feeling for Cheng De’s pulse.

Lin Feng nodded and took Cheng De there.

Liu Meng Qi followed to help set up the folding bed, while the others in the class watched on with mixed expressions as the three occupied the rest room.

“Old Man Liu, I’m hungry. You said there’s food here right?” Suddenly Zhu Han Fang spoke up, brandishing his brass knuckles as he beadily stared at Old Man Liu cleaning up the furnace.

This story does quite a bit of setting up, I’m actually enjoying it. It does feel slightly ramble-y and repetitive at times but in general it’s doing a lot more describing, which I like. Considering the pace that the author was writing (One 3k words update a day, seriously), it’s not too bad.

Anyway expect me to go up to chapter 10 ish (or a good pausing point) before I return to GBLINC. That way I hope readers can get a fair view of what this novel will contain in terms of characters and story style. Let me know if you see any errors, I’m too lazy to edit much.
