Even After Turning Into a Trap Cat Girl I’ll Have to Work Hard to Survive in the End of the World

Chapter 6 – Sudden New Body

“Hmm? Was I seeing things?” Liu Tao said as he scratched his head and rubbed his eyes, before shrugging and entering to wash his face.

“What happened?”

“Ah no, I think I saw your eyes shining. Ahh seriously, I’m way too tense. This stupid apocalypse crap is breaking my mind.” Liu Tao took a towel and wiped, before turning to examine Lin Feng’s eyes under the light.

“Eh? Lin Feng you’re a mixed? I didn’t know your eyes were blue, they’re quite beautiful.”

After hearing that Lin Feng whipped his head to look at the bathroom mirror, when did his eyes become blue!? Suddenly he thought of what happened to Zhang Yi Cheng, and felt his head turn blank.

Lin Feng directly witnessed that guy mutating, first the skin changing and then the extreme body proportions.

Would he also become like that?!

Mankind’s greatest fear originates from the unknown, and Lin Feng was no different right now, consumed by fear.

“You alright?” Liu Tao asked from behind, slightly curious as Lin Feng had not spoken in a while. He had a torch up as he patrolled the dark corridors.

Seeing the surroundings slowly morph into clarity, Lin Feng stopped. At this moment Lin Feng knew he had mutated. The usually impenetrable darkness was now fully clear to him, and he could even see in great detail a zombie consuming organs about 1 km away.

As long as Lin Feng held his breath, Liu Tao’s movement would become slowed, every step seeming to take 10 seconds. Lin Feng felt as if it would only take a single thought for him to end Liu Tao’s life before Liu Tao could even react.

Using the axe meant to protect against spiders.

Blue eyes glowed dimly in the pitch dark.

No longer hearing Liu Tao’s steps as he walked.

“Mo.. Monster.”

Hearing monster jolted Lin Feng out of his murderous stupor, realizing in horror what he was about to do Lin Feng took a few small steps back.

“No I’m… I…” A soft and fluffy tail popped out from behind as Lin Feng panicked.

Suddenly Lin Feng understood how Zhang Yi Cheng had felt earlier, a feeling in his head pushed for him to turn and run. He saw Liu Tao holler and wake most of the crowd, and they formed a wall that surrounded Lin Feng. A few of the males had whatever makeshift weapons they could grab and were all warily staring at Lin Feng.

“No, wait. I’m not a monster, you have to believe me.”

While Lin Feng waved his hands about nonstop, two fluffy ears with a bit of pain popped out from the top of his head.

“I knew it, this guy was a bastard, monster!” Zhu Han Fang had moved forwards, pointing at Lin Feng with the wooden stick as he backed into a corner.

“Monster! You thought that if you turned into Liu Meng Qi I’d be unable to recognize you!? Your beastly features are something you’ll never be able to hide!”

Lin Feng looked on with panic. What did Han Zhu Fang mean, turning into Liu Meng Qi?

Not giving Lin Feng much time to think, Zhu Han Fang suddenly swung out with the club at the scared Lin Feng.

“AH” A soft and sweet voice came out of his mouth.

“Stop.” Old Man Liu had run forwards with a torch in his hand, Liu Meng Qi and Yan Ao Xue following closely behind.

Old Man Liu seeing the “girl” huddled in the corner shone the torch at Lin Feng.

“Are you really Lin Feng?”

Hearing Old Man Liu’s voice Lin Feng finally looked up and saw him with his childhood friend Liu Meng Qi.

Liu Meng Qi’s shock and incomprehension was all seen by Lin Feng.

He dropped his head, and used his clothes to cover his head.

“Yes, Mr. Liu. I’m Lin Feng.”

“Mr. Zhu Han Fang, everyone, go back first. I’ll handle this.” Old Man Liu said after staring at Zhu Han Fang.

Zhu Han Fang stared back, yet seeing that the surrounding students didn’t have a hateful feeling, sighed coldly and pushed the wooden club into Old Man Liu’s hands. “If anything happens, it’s your fault.”

The surrounding students having heard that all became slightly afraid. The first time they had heard this was before the male student had turned into a zombie, they had learned their lesson. They dispersed.

Finally Liu Tao with a sorry expression turned to go back to the lounge.

Only Yan Ao Xue, Old Man Liu, Liu Meng Qi and Song Zhe remained with Lin Feng who was huddled into a corner covering himself and shivering .

Old Man Liu looked warily at Lin Feng, and asked him to go to the storage room.

Lin Feng obediently while grabbing onto his now one size larger clothes, walked towards the storage room. He winced slightly as he grabbed, owing to Han Zhu Fang having hit him on the hand.

Afterwards Old Man Liu asked Lin Feng to uncover his face.

“Don’t look, Meng Qi don’t look.” Lin Feng didn’t show his face, instead grabbing even firmer onto his clothes and wrapping himself up.

Yet Liu Meng Qi didn’t listen, and rushed forwards while Old Man Liu was still too shocked to react. It was too late by the time Old Man Liu realized.

Liu Meng Qi looked at the now same height as herself Lin Feng.

“Lin Feng.”

“Mm” He covered his head slightly and let out a noise. He must have scared away his childhood friend. He was, a monster. How would he face his parents? In that moment he had thoughts of ending his life.

“You’re so cute.”

? ? ?

While Lin Feng let out a noise of surprise and fear, Liu Meng Qi suddenly pulled Lin Feng into her embrace.

“You…”

“Others may fear you, but I won’t. You’re Lin Feng right? Then I’m not afraid, no matter what you turn into.”

Seeing Liu Meng Qi act this way, Lin Feng finally relaxed. She didn’t reject him.

“Thanks Liu Meng Qi. Really. Did you bring a mirror? I… I want to see what I look like.” In a slightly shaky voice Lin Feng asked Liu Meng Qi.

If he had changed into something like Zhang Yi Chen, Lin Feng wouldn’t want to live anymore. It was a human to monster transformation after all, even if the body can withstand it the heart could never.

“No need, I’m your childhood friend after all. Though you really want to see?” Liu Meng Qi made sure to ask just in case.

“Mm, yes.” Wiping the sweat from his palms and hearing the hesitation in Liu Meng Qi’s voice, Lin Feng felt a wave of nervousness.

“Alright, here you go. But you have to remain calm ok? Lin Feng?” Liu Meng Qi thought about it for a bit before reaching into her pockets for her mirror.

Picking up the mirror that Liu Meng Qi usually used for doing her makeup, he saw the blue eyes that glowed dimly, as well as the face those eyes were rested in.

“Liu Meng Qi?”

“Yes?”

“No, not calling you. Why do I look exactly like you?” Lin Feng reached for his face, feeling and pinching. It was exactly the same as Liu Meng Qi’s appearance, just with a set of cat ears directly above the eyes protruding from the crown of the head. The fluffy feeling from behind also told him there was now a white tail to consider.

“What…”

“That’s why I said you’re much cuter now.” Liu Meng Qi said as she fluffed Lin Feng’s cat ears.

“Oi, are you turning into a narcissist?” He controlled his ears to avoid Liu Meng Qi’s fingers. Lin Feng felt as if they had been with him all his life; like an extra pair of hands.

Thinking about the scratch from before, Lin Feng looked down at his arm. There wasn’t a single mark left, just a normal and pale arm.

Was it actually because Liu Meng Qi used her spit to help treat it? That sounds really dumb.

“Well since you’re still Lin Feng and still sane, how about you go try explaining to the rest of the students? I’m sure they’ll understand.” Old Man Liu said as he watched Liu Meng Qi grab Lin Feng’s tail while Yan Ao Xue curiously stroked his ears. Song Zhe was off to the side staring with eyes blazing in thought.

They confirmed that Lin Feng was no threat, and just suffering from an impossible mutation. Better than turning into one of the insane zombies outside.

“It’s like this, this morning I got scratched by a cat and my sister here used her spit to help treat it and so I ended up turning into this. I don’t know why Zhang Yi Cheng transformed, but I really don’t have any wishes to harm everyone.”

Seeing the crowd still maintaining their distance, Lin Feng explained.

He didn’t mention the killing intent he had felt towards Liu Tao during his transformation. If he mentioned that, then there was no way he would be able to explain and remain here. Right now only the rooftop was safe.

“Who knows if you’re telling the truth, I vote to kick Lin Feng out.” Zhu Han Fang declared after hearing Lin Feng’s explanation.

“No need to vote, I told Mr. Song Zhe to help me clear the storeroom, as long as he sleeps away from us it’ll be fine.” Old Man Liu interrupted Zhu Han Fang.

“Stupid old man, if he kills someone who’s going to take responsibility?”

“I don’t dare, but if you kick him out right now, it’s murder! Also, please mind your attitude student Zhu Han Fang.” Old Man Liu coldly stated, seeing Zhu Han Fang make threatening motions.

“Stupid old man, better to not let this bastard here make a mistake. Why don’t you fuck off together?”

Grabbing the biscuits Song Zhe offered absentmindedly, Lin Feng took a few bites before collapsing on the bed.

Doo doo doo dooo

Just as everyone was prepared to go back to sleep, the beginning tones of the school intercoms came from the sports field.

“Hello students, I’m sorry for interrupting your sleep. I had originally planned this announcement for the afternoon, but due to reasons I can only interrupt everyone.”

“Headmaster Zhu?” Lin Feng raised his head and listened closely to the intercom. The headmaster was breathing rather heavily as if something had just happened. No one had expected the old man to still be alive.

Because his hearing was now sensitive, the intercom was slightly grating to his ears. Lin Feng could only take a towel and cover up his ears. It wasn’t very comfortable.

“Now everyone please take whatever light source you have near you and direct it towards the old broadcasting room. I want to see where our remaining students are.” Headmaster Zhu seemed to gain a few years as he said that.

Old Man Liu was ecstatic and tearful. His old friend was still alive, and so he hurriedly ran to get a torch and with energetically pointed it towards the broadcasting room. Other similar sources of light shone from within the school grounds, scattered about.

There were some in the infirmary, cafeteria, library roof and a classroom on the second floor of the building.

The tiny dots of light twinkling like stars became beacons of hope for the surviving students.

Lin Feng curiously looked down at the light coming from the second floor. It was incredible that even with all the zombies around there would be students able to create a safe area so close to the ground.

“Ahem, very good now please listen closely.” Headmaster Zhu coughed before beginning his announcement.

キタ――(゚∀゚)――!! Our neko-chan has now arrived with the fluffy ears and tails we didn’t know we wanted.

Liu Meng Qi is best girl (though Lin Feng is now steadily taking over that spot). Here’s what Liu Meng Qi (and now Lin Feng) looks like according to the author.

  1. Thanks for the new chapter! I’m not sure but the stages of the factions could be considered as evolution.

    1. Actually after going back and looking at the original, apparently the author put those there as indicators of the current stage. The author drops this system later on, but currently I guess stage 1 zombies = beginning of infection, large scale spreading. Stage 1 of mutated is mutations begin, superhuman abilities bestowed.

Idk it’s a weird system but I’ll keep it in to preserve the original.

        1. Yep, but I guess it’s a way to explain how the current apocalypse is progressing outside of our view. The author did put it at Humans stage 2.5, Zombies stage 4 and mutated stage 2, though at what point in the story this is I don’t know. Probably hundred chapters in or near the end. So technically you’re kinda right with evolution stages, but it’s more overall evolution than specific evolution stage (Aka stage 2 zombies is stronger at night and increased strength. Stage 2 humans is hiding in strongholds, learning to gather)

I thought it was an infection tally for members of the class, like when the class rep got infected I thought it was foreshadowing a smart zombie mutation and that she’ll reappear later. That got thrown out of the window when the author stopped posting those when other characters started changing, so eh.
